A Mosaic Mass

Trustees and team members from Friends of the Vox were delighted to be at Cadogan Hall on Saturday 23 March, for the World Premiere of “A Mosaic Mass'“ as part of Vox Anima London’s 2024 concert season.

This concert formed a part of Vox Anima London’s ‘Sing Here Together with VOCES8’ residency, a project 2 years in the making! Nearly 200 singers from various places in the world (including the UK, America and South Africa) worked for months to prepare challenging repertoire for these 3 days with VOCES8.

Five composers crafted new settings of the traditional Mass texts that were premiered on this concert, and Barnaby Smith, along with the members of VOCES8, passionately and professionally brought all of this together. The composers were:

Kyrie - Paul Smith

Gloria - Ken Burton

Credo - Jocelyn Hagen

Sanctus - Jim Clements

Agnus Dei & Benedictus - Taylor Scott Davis

Artistic Advisor for Friends of the Vox and Artistic Director of Vox Anima London James Meaders said:

“It was one of the most inspiring experiences of my professional life—and I did not conduct or sing a note. How thrilling it is to stand aside and watch dreams become reality in a brilliant fusion of artistry, musicianship, inspiration, education, and performance. I am forever grateful to all of my friends and colleagues who made these three days so magically unforgettable!”

Vox Anima London is founded on three central passions: Choral Artistry, Music Education, and Cultural Exchange. They consistently promote the performance of contemporary composers, and work with the highest level of professional musicians. Friends of the Vox is grateful to them for their continuing support and sponsorship which enables so many of our projects to take place. Congratulations to the Vox Anima London team on a hugely successful and inspirational concert.
