World Premiere of Dan Forrest’s LUX: The Dawn from on High (SSAA)

On October 30, 2022, in the beautiful St Augustine's Chapel in Tonbridge, Vox Anima Chamber Choir took centre stage as the lead choir in a consortium commissioning the contemporary composer Dan Forrest to arrange his SATB work, "LUX: The Dawn From on High," specifically for upper voices.

"LUX: The Dawn From on High" is Dan Forrest's third major work, unraveling the multifaceted aspects of "LUX," which translates to "light" in Latin. Through a rich combination of ancient liturgical chant, scripture, and modern secular love poetry, he weaves together a tapestry of luminosity that resonates deep within the souls of those who experience it.

The success of this commission would not have been possible without the incomparable support of the Cloke family and the legacy of Alan Dyson. Their dedication to the arts and their commitment to fostering the growth of exceptional musical endeavors have paved the way for this profound collaboration. Friends of the Vox, Vox Anima Chamber Choir, and all those involved in the consortium, expresses their sincere gratitude for their generosity and unwavering belief in the power of music to connect and inspire.

The premiere of "LUX: The Dawn From on High" marks yet another extraordinary achievement for Vox Anima Chamber Choir, and they are looking forward to performing in the US in February 2023 and again in London in June 2023.

Please enjoy the recording from their concert below.

Sheet music for the SSAA arrangement is now available to purchase from The Music of Dan Forrest, distributed by Beckenhorst Press.
