VACC share a Weekend of Music, Bonding, and Creativity

Following their captivating concert at St Dunstan's Church, Vox Anima Chamber Choir retreated to the tranquil setting of Fraser's Egerton for a rejuvenating weekend of music, camaraderie, and creative exploration. Nestled in the heart of the countryside, Fraser's provided the perfect backdrop for the choir to reconnect and deepen their bonds, reinforcing the belief that the best music is created through a strong sense of community.

The weekend began with a celebratory post-concert dinner, where choir members shared laughter and stories over a lively game of "two truths and a lie." This light-hearted activity offered a fun way for members to learn more about one another, strengthening the sense of unity within the group.

Saturday morning offered a blend of activity and relaxation, with some choir members opting for an invigorating countryside run, while others enjoyed a more leisurely start to the day with pancakes for breakfast! As the group gathered before lunch, they reminisced about the many memorable moments they’ve shared since the choir's inception, reflecting on the deep friendships and invaluable lessons that have shaped their journey so far.

The afternoon was dedicated to what the choir does best—singing! The group delved into Kim André Arnesen's Stabat Mater which they will be performing in the upcoming months, as well as rehearsing pieces for Alto 1 Becca’s upcoming wedding in August!

The day concluded with a team BBQ, where the choir indulged in a little karaoke, and brought out face masks, adding a touch of fun and relaxation to the evening. It was a time for laughter, music, and togetherness, embodying the spirit of the retreat!

Sunday provided the choir with a chance to look to the future, engaging in blue-sky thinking sessions about the direction of the group and exciting ideas for future projects. The retreat ended on a high note, with the choir energised and united, ready to bring their ambitious ideas to life—something they look forward to sharing with their supporters in the months to come.

This weekend away at Fraser’s Egerton not only rejuvenated the choir but also reaffirmed their commitment to creating music through community and connection. We would like to thank our sponsors that made this trip possible!
